Spiders, witches and candy, oh my! If you're planning a Halloween party, you should make sure your treats are up to par. Candy and treats that both kids and adults can enjoy will always be a big hit. With treats that can also be considered party decorations your party will be remembered for years to come.
Setting the Table
Cover your table with shiny, silver aluminum foil. This creates a sparkly surface on which to place your food, treats and drinks. Any candle light that you use reflects off of the silver surface, making everything in the room shine.
Candy Corn Candles
Fill a large drinking glass with regular candy corn. Place a small tea light candle into the candy corn at the top of the glass. Light the candle to create a yummy mood. Kids may be tempted to stick their hands into the glass, so use the candles only at parties for adults.
Scary Spider Cupcakes
Begin by making regular chocolate cupcakes. Ice them with chocolate cake icing. Cover them with chocolate sprinkles. The sprinkles make the cupcake look like it's covered with hair. Place licorice sticks along the edges of the cupcakes to create spider legs. Use two small white marshmallows for the eyes. You might want to put a small drop of red food coloring on each marshmallow to make the eyes look even scarier.
Blood Red Drinks
Bloody Marys are must for any adult Halloween party. For kids parties, you can make Spooky Red Blood Drinks.
Bloody Mary Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 ounces (1 jigger) vodka
- 1/2 cup tomato juice
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- Worcestershire sauce to taste
- Tabasco to taste
- 1 celery stick for garnish
- 1 lemon wedge for garnish
Directions:
- Mix tomato juice, vodka, tobasco sauce, worsterchire sauce, horseradish and lemon juice in a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a celery stick and a lemon wedge.
For the Spooky Red Blood Drinks, you can easily make a pitcher at a time.
Ingredients:
- 2 liters of Big Red Soda
- 2 cups Ice
- 2 cups of Sprite
- cherries
Directions:
- Mix all ingredients in a pitcher. Put two cherries into the bottom of a glass of ice. Pour mixture over the top.
- Another popular Halloween party treat is the Halloween graveyard cake. It's extremely easy to make and is a hit with both kids and adults. Take a regular chocolate pan cake and ice it with chocolate icing. Place milano cookies into the cake to make it look like a cemetary. Sprinkle the cake with powdered sugar to give it the look of a snowy graveyard. You can then decorate the gravestones in any way you wish.
