Mosquito bites are an itchy nuisance that cannot be ignored. Whether your bites are on your hands, feet or unmentionable areas, try these natural mosquito bite cures.

There are a variety of natural mosquito bite cures out there than can help soothe your dry, scratchy skin. These can be made from items found in or around the home and have proven to be extremely effective.

Baking Soda Cure

To use this natural remedy, simply mix a few teaspoons of baking soda with a couple of teaspoons of water in a small bowl. The mixture should look somewhat like a paste. Apply the paste directly to the mosquito bites. It will be wet when you put it on. Let the paste dry before covering it with clothing or shoes.

Once dry, the paste will begin to flake off. Try to keep it on as long as possible. This paste dries up the mosquito bite and takes the itch out almost immediately.

Aloe Vera Plant

Aloe vera plants perform a variety of functions and it's always nice to have one growing around the house. When you are bitten by mosquitoes, take a piece of the aloe vera plant and break it off. Rub the juice from the plant directly onto the mosquito bites as a natural remedy.

Deoderant

When you are traveling, you might not have baking soda or an aloe vera plant with you. Try using deoderant instead. Rub the deoderant over the bites and in a couple of minutes, the itching will be gone.

Ice

Cover your bites with ice. Leave the ice on the bites for as long as you can stand it to numb the area and the itching.

Clear Fingernail Polish

Most of us have a bottle of clear fingernail polishing lying around the house. After you get bitten, apply a small amount of clear fingernail polish to the bites to stop the itching.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste works well for covering mosquito bites and taking out the sting and itch. It doesn't matter which brand or color you use, anything is fine.

If the swelling of mosquito bites persists, or you begin to feel feverish, have your doctor do an allergy test to find out if you are allergic to mosquito bites. If you are, your doctor can recommend many over the counter, prescription and even natural treatments that will work well for you.

Take whatever precautions you can to prevent being bitten by mosquitos. Remove standing water around your home and apply mosquito or bug spray when you know that you will be outdoors for an extended period of time. When you do get bitten, one of these natural cures for mosquito bites can ease your pain and itching.

The ice one for me didn't work, and i read on a different site to use Paw Paw ointment, that failed to. The Toothpaste worked for about 5 minutes then it just got unconfortable. I'm going to try the deoderant one. I have soo many bites all over me. AHH!

This last week I had five mosquito bites, and on two of them I applied peppermint toothpaste liberally for roughly 4 hours. The itch disappeared almost completely and they never became inflamed, as opposed to the other three in which I only applied ice - which did help reduce some itching.
